My biggest changes came from sleep, food, therapy and people
165 wordsLife before I started
I was forty-six, exhausted, thirty pounds heavier than I wanted to be, and convinced there was something exotic wrong with me.
What I was experiencing
Fatigue, irritability, brain fog, and low mood in the afternoons.
What I'd tried before
Supplements, a functional medicine panel, and endless research into microdosing.
What I explored
A sleep clinic referral, cooking most meals at home, walking daily, therapy, and joining a Sunday football group.
What happened
Sleep apnoea diagnosis and treatment changed more in eight weeks than anything else had in three years.
What surprised me most
That community was as important as any of it. The Sunday game is non-negotiable now.
What didn't help
Supplements, again. And the research rabbit hole itself, which became a way of avoiding action.
What I'm still working through
Consistency when work travel picks up.
What I learned about myself
That the unglamorous explanation is very often the correct one, and it is worth ruling out before anything else.
Where I am now
Healthier than I have been in a decade, and I never took anything psychedelic.
What I'd tell someone starting out
Get the boring medical things checked first. Sleep, bloods, thyroid, hearing, eyes. Then decide what you are actually dealing with.
